Facial Hair Removal Is An Important Chore For Some People

Facial hair removal is primarily the main concern of women. However, men with thick and heavy beards would also be keen on facial hair removal.

Although facial hair is normal for both sexes, the reason why women have more noticeable facial hair is due to hormone imbalance between estrogen and endrogens. This is very true during menopause or pregnancy, but could also be attributed to obesity or age.

There are five common methods of facial hair removal:

1) Use a tweezer
- where hairs are few. It is the most cost effective method.

2) Waxing
- Just apply warm or cold wax to the area. Allow to dry, then peel off with the unwanted hair. The result is very clean, but can be painful. Some skin type may have irritation. Waxing is a temporary method as hair will regrow again and the hair removal needs to be repeated after several weks.

3) Depilatory Chemicals and Creams
- By applying these hair removal substances, it destroy the chemical bonds in the hair shaft. The result is a gelatinous pooling of the hair, which needs to be wiped off after application. This method however does not destroy the hair follicles which after some days will start growing again. A temporary hair removal method and can cause irritation to the skin and often undesirable odour.

4) Electrolysis Hair Removal
- It is a permanent hair removal method. Using electrical current from a needle direct at each hair follicle one at a time. The hair follicle is completely destroyed. Depending on your facial hair density, it could take up to two years to complete.

5) Laser Facial Hair Removal
- It is another permanent ingrown hair removal method and it is getting popular each day. The laser works to burn off the hair follicle and thus no more hair will grow. It may take several sessions to complete the process and cost are on the high side.
